Facial fillers and other injections work to fix blemishes, remove wrinkles, and make your skin look younger. But it can be hard to know which injection is right for you.
In this post, we are going to talk about the different types of injections we offer at 5 STARR Salon & Spa in Grove City. To schedule any of our spa services, or meet with our staff, schedule an appointment at our spa and salon today!
How to Choose
There are many factors to consider when getting injections at a medical spa — like how elastic or inelastic your skin is and what kind of damage your skin has. Learn more about the different injections we offer and if you have questions about any of our spa services, don’t hesitate to contact our trained estheticians!
Juvéderm is a type of dermal filler that can be used for different areas of the face. For example, Juvéderm Voluma can add contours to your cheeks and smoothes the “parentheses” lines around your nose and mouth. If you’re looking to plump your lips, Juvéderm Volbella will soften those vertical lip lines. The main ingredient in these fillers is hyaluronic acid (HA), a compound that is found naturally in the body, making it a great choice. With long-lasting results, you’ll also need fewer touch-ups.
Restylane is an injection that can help smooth wrinkles or add volume to thinner lips. Different Restylane products work to treat different aspects of your skin, like adding fullness to the back of your hands. Like Juvéderm, Restylane uses HA to smooth skin which means it’s safe for your skin and you will need less appointments for touch-ups.
The Sculptra injection was originally used to treat the loss of facial fat in patients with HIV. Now, it’s been found to work for people who want to build up their cheeks or have sunken or hollow areas they want to fill. Unlike the other injections we’ve talked about, Sculptra is not injected into the lips or around the eyes. The active ingredient in this injection is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) which is a synthetic compound that encourages new collagen to form, requiring more frequent treatments.
Botox and Dysport are both injections containing botulinum toxins — a type of neurotoxic protein. This neurotoxin can treat muscle spasms, but spas use it to prevent and treat wrinkles. These injections relax the muscles in your face, reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Following your appointment, it can take up to two weeks to see results, which will last for three to six months. Like with Sculptra, you’ll want to schedule more frequent appointments for this treatment.
Beyond Wrinkles: Botox has also been proven to have some health benefits beyond reducing the appearance of wrinkles. This includes treating muscle spasms, headaches, migraines, lazy eye, overactive bladder, and aiding with sweat reduction. If you want to try Botox for any of these health reasons, make sure you mention this when you schedule your appointment or when you’re meeting with your technician!
Kybella is an injection that targets and destroys the fat cells under your chin. This injection is also a synthetic compound called deoxycholic acid that helps your body absorb fat. In order to see results, you’ll need a series of up to six treatments, making this a spa service you’ll want to make time for.
